Scorchio! Mini-heatwave on way ... but it won’t last
GREATER Manchester could bask in summer-like weather once again next week as a mini-heatwave hits our region.
Forecasters are keeping watch on a ridge of high pressure on course to skirt the British Isles and lure warm and sunny weather back towards the north west.
The mercury could reach 19-20C in Greater Manchester today and tomorrow as warm air from the south dislodges the current cool and unsettled westerly airflow.
Katie Greening, forecaster of The Weather Channel, said temperatures will rise after a bout of cool and unsettled weather over the weekend.
She said: “Temperatures will be unseasonably cool for the time of year next week, but spiking slightly above average on Tuesday.
“High pressure forecast, with sunny spells and fair weather likely.”
Unfortunately, this burst of warm weather next week will be short-lived, according to forecasts.
Unsettled conditions are predicted to swiftly take control again by Wednesday, but at least it looks like it’s going to remain dry.
Temperatures will quickly revert back to the low-to-mid teens Celsius for the remainder of the week. Changeable conditions are expected to persist for the rest of the month, but there are some early signs temperatures will rise again for a prolonged period at the end of the month.
