UNITED legend David Beckham returned ‘back home’ to the city – and he couldn’t resist revisiting his old haunts and tucking in to chips, peas ’n’ gravy.

Global footballing icon Becks was back in Manchester after being appointed as ambassadorial president of the British Fashion Council.

He visited Manchester Metropolitan University’s fashion department, as well as heading to Manchester-based gents fashion label Private VC White.

Becks took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, heading to Alderley Edge where he lived with his Spice Girl wife Victoria during his United heyday, and where their eldest child Brooklyn was born in 1999.

David, sharing his journey on his Instagram Stories, tagged in Brooklyn as he posted a picture of Oakwood House, with the slogan ‘first home @BrooklynBeckham.’

He also tagged Victoria in a snap of the road sign for Beechfield Road, as well as the De Trafford Arms pub on the main London Road in Alderley Edge.

The couple lived in the area until 2005 when Becks departed to Spain to play for Real Madrid.

There was also a drive down Deansgate in Manchester – with the caption ‘drove up and down here a few times’ – and a stop off at Deansgate train station.

Becks then tucked in to chips, peas and gravy. His drink of choice? A can of Irn Bru!

Social media was soon filled with photos from fans who spotted him around Manchester. He praised the ‘amazing young talent’ met while at the Portrait Youth exhibition, a collaboration between the Manchester Youth Council and the Manchester Fashion Institute at MMU.

The project explores youth identity through style, fashion and dress.
