Warriors duo heading out to Toulouse on loan spell to get games
WIGAN youngsters Joe Bretherton and James Worthington have joined Betfred Championship highflyers Toulouse Olympique on loan.
Bretherton featured once for dual-registration partners Swinton Lions last season and has made 17 first-team appearances for the Warriors.
However, he has only recently returned to fitness after suffering a dislocated fibula in the club’s pre-season Capital Challenge match against London Skolars in January.
Utility-back Worthington scored two tries on his professional debut when Wigan took on Wakefield at the DW Stadium last season.
But he has been unable to break into coach Shaun Wane’s matchday squads since then.
Warriors executive director Kris Radlinski said: “With the first-team squad looking so healthy at the moment, both Joe and James were going to struggle for game time, so when the opportunity came about with Toulouse it was an easy decision to make.
“Both players are champing at the bit to get out there and play and we wish them all the best.”
Meanwhile, Salford have launched a scheme to offer more than 1,000 local children free tickets to their remaining home fixtures for this season.
Local community clubs will be sent forms which can be filled in and brought to the Salford Red Devils Foundation on a matchday and exchanged for a free ticket.
The Red Devils are also planning to organise a number of events over the coming weeks that will see first-team players visit the community clubs and welcome any new sign-ups.
The community clubs targeted include Langworthy Reds, Folly Lane, Cadishead Rhinos, Salford City Roosters, Mancunians, Bury Broncos, South Trafford Raiders, Westhoughton Lions and many more.
