Daisy’s badge of honour at Brownies

-

A DETERMINED youngster has earned herself a wealth of Brownie points after gaining every badge available.

Daisy Parfitt, from Kersal, Salford, set herself a challenge to complete all 57 badges in her badge book in under two years.

The nine-year-old, who is a member of the 6th Higher Broughton unit, averaged two badges a week by working on them at weekends and holidays.

She now wears them proudly on her double sash, which had to be custom made to fit them all on.

Daisy’s mum Kellie described her daughter as a ‘competitive little girl’ and when her sister Hollie left Brownies with 25 badges, Daisy decided she wanted to get them all.

Kellie said that many of the badges teach important life skills – such as first aid, communication and cooking. “Daisy is a true Brownie who always thinks of others first,” she added. “When she joined Brownies she was only seven, she wanted to get all of the badges. A lot of them are really useful – I’ve learnt things too. She’s really good around the house, cooking and cleaning. I think her favourite badge was the watersports badge which we did in Wales, she went in a canoe, she loves all stuff like that. She also loved learning about the phonetic alphabet and she’s really crafty so enjoys anything like that.”

Daisy, who goes to St Philips School in Salford, is now working her way though the Blue Peter badges.
