A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash at Eccles Interchange.

Police said he suffered fatal injuries when his custom motorbike was involved in a collision with a red Jaguar at the junction of the M60 and M62 shortly after 10.15am on Friday morning.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene following the incident, which took place on the westbound carriageway, but he died of his injuries.

The motorway was closed at junction 12 to allow the emergency services to carry out their work. All lanes were re-opened at around 3pm.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Sgt Darren Hancock, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “In a split second, a man’s life has been taken away and my heart goes out to his family, who are being comforted by officers.

“If you were around the Eccles Interchange at the time of the collision, or saw the bike and Jaguar as they travelled from Manchester to Liverpool, please contact police. Dash cam footage will be a key part of our enquiries, so I’d ask anyone with footage who was travelling on this part of the M60/M62 earlier today, to send this through to our collision investigation team.”
