A very scary sight on the caravan site!

-

CORONATION Street fans on a caravan site were in for a shock when they came face to face with soapland’s most fearsome baddie, Pat Phelan. Residents of the Elm Beds Caravan Park in Higher Poynton were given prior warning that Corrie was filming on the site – but nothing prepared them for the surprise of finding twisted builder Phelan in their midst.

Corrie viewer Peter Buckby told us: “One morning I looked out of the window and saw Pat Phelan standing there.

“One scene was filmed right outside our static caravan where Phelan met a pretend owner of the site and had a chat.

“Meanwhile I was inside curtain twitching, watching them filming.”

Father of two Peter, from Tottington, watches the show with his wife Joan, so they were delighted to see the scenes unfolding right on their doorstep.

They watched as Phelan, played by Connor McIntyre, was confronted by Gary Windass and his old army friend Joe Haslam who pull up at a campsite to find out the killer is still alive and well after he appeared to plunge to his death off the side of a harbour in a showdown with wife Eileen after being unmasked as a killer.

In the storyline, to be screened from next Friday May 25, Phelan is tracked down to a caravan site in Abergele, Wales by Gary and he will drag him back to Weatherfield following what is set to be a dramatic showdown.

A few days before the shoot Corrie delivered an old touring caravan to be used as Phelan’s hideout and the cast and crew stayed for three days at Elm Beds.

Peter recalled: “I saw them waving baseball bats around in the small caravan.

“In real life Pat was a really nice man and I did say to him that he doesn’t look as scary with a beard. And he posed with anyone who wanted a photo.”
