A WOMAN had to be taken to hospital after a car collided with a bus.

Emergency services were called to Wilbraham Road in Chorlton after the accident.

The road was closed near its junction with Egerton Road for several hours.

Images shared on social media show the damage to the Stagecoach number 85 bus, which runs between Chorlton and Manchester city centre.

It’s understood no one on board was injured.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said a woman who had been in the car was ‘walked clear’ of the vehicle by firefighters.

She was conscious and breathing, and treated at the scene by the North West Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital.

They said: “We were called at 10.42am to reports of a collision involving a double decker bus and a vehicle on Wilbraham Road in Chorlton.

“We sent two fire engines from Moss Side and Salford, as well as the Major Response Unit and Tactical Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne.

“A woman was walked clear of the vehicle, she was conscious and breathing.

“She was assessed at the scene by NWAS and taken to hospital.

“Crews used stabilisation gear and electrical cutting equipment and were on scene for 55 minutes.”

A Stagecoach spokesperson, added: “Safety is always our absolute priority and we will be assisting the emergency services with any enquiries.”
