‘Lucky’ Bill’s winning streak
IS this the luckiest man in Greater Manchester?
Kitchen salesman Bill O’Toole has scooped two £10,000 cash prizes and a supercar all in the space of just three years.
Pensioner Bill had the shock of his life when a £60,000 Range Rover Sport was delivered to his door along with £10,000 in cash in 2015.
At the time, Bill described winning the supercar competition BOTB as ‘the most fantastic day of my life so far.’
So he couldn’t believe his luck when competition bosses turned up unexpectedly at his workplace again to surprise him with his winnings from their weekly lifestyle competition.
The 73-year-old, from Tyldesley in Wigan, was left lost for words as BOTB’s Christian Williams handed him a cheque for £10,000. “No way, there’s no way I have won for a second time,” said Bill.
Dream car and lifestyle competition company BOTB was founded by William Hindmarch and has been operating in major UK airports since 1999.
The company gives away a dream car every week and has so far handed over the keys to more than £22m worth of prizes.
Former professional footballers, such as England international Sol Campbell, are used to judge the competition independently each week, alongside current and former referees.
BOTB’s new lifestyle competition allows players to win anything from cash to motorbikes, watches and even a Safari.
Bill has been entering the competition for more than a decade. He started playing when he worked in duty free at Heathrow Airport.
“I never thought I’d win again,” he said. “When I won the Range Rover three years ago I rushed playing and I did the same again this time, it’s obviously the way to win. My wife and I have already booked a holiday to Majorca so this couldn’t have come at a better time. What a great way to start the week.”
Christian, who delivered the good news, said Bill must be one of BOTB’s luckiest winners. “It’s normally me delivering the surprises but I was really shocked when I was told that Bill had already won just three years ago,” he said.
“Having the opportunity to surprise people with a once in a lifetime win is an incredible feeling, but getting to do it twice is amazing.”
