Trio of VIPs visit United dressing room after defeat

- By CIARAN KELLY

SIR Bobby Charlton, Avram Glazer and Ed Woodward were among the visitors to the United dressing room following their FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea.

Shortly after the Londoners lifted the trophy, a sizable contingent of United officials made their way past the mixed zone to greet the club’s disconsolate players.

As was the case after the semifinal win against Spurs a month ago, Sir Bobby, Glazer and Woodward were joined by managing director Richard Arnold and former executive vice-chairman David Giill.

Sir Bobby and Woodward, the club’s current executive vicechairman, often salute United players after games - regardless of whether they win, lose or draw.

Co-chairman Glazer has watched a number of United games in recent weeks, including the shock defeat to West Brom last month. And he spent around 10 minutes in the United dressing room before making his way out of Wembley.

Attention now turns to the summer and who United could bring in to somehow close the gap on bitter rivals City.

Woodward has already been handed Mourinho’s transfer wishlist and has been working behind the scenes to try and secure his top targets in time for the United boss’ unofficial deadline of Sunday, July 15.

That is the date when the Reds squad flies out for their pre-season tour of the U.S.

But Woodward’s task has been made doubly difficult by both the World Cup and the new Premier League transfer deadline.
