KESWICK MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL

-

Climbing and walking enthusiasts have a special treat coming up in June at the Keswick Mountain Festival, where the excitement is all in the sporting challenges on offer.

The outdoor activities range in skill level, hikes and runs are clearly labelled to ensure all ages from beginner to advanced can get involved.

More unusual events are there for the taking too, visitors can try their hand at canoeing on the nearby lakes!

Not only will athletes be preparing physically for the triathlon and ultra swim competitions, but some are preparing mentally too.

To help them along, world-class sportspeople, Mark Beaumont and Chrissie Wellington, are conducting inspirational talks throughout the event in the Theatre by the Lake.

Of course, there will be live music, with Mel C continuing her lengthy festival career in the sweeping Cumbrian hills. Dates: Fri 8 - Sun 10 June Venue: Crow Park, Keswick, Cumbria Age: All (most events/activities have a minimum age) Tickets: The most inclusive ticket is the weekend camping ticket, which includes the live music, access to taster activities and talks in the festival village. Adults are £75, children under 16 are £42. There is a family deal of two adults and two children for £19. Under fives are free. Athletes can also enter the events for a fee Show, seen popping up in the city since the 1950s.

After a 15 year absence, the best amateur and professional gardeners and florists are creating displays to fit with a ‘Vintage Manchester’ theme.

Keeping in with the garden theme, attendees will also get the opportunity to preview the bee sculptures before they become part of the Bee in the City public art trail.

But really it’s the little things that help make this a special addition to the summer calendar.

Lawn games, cocktail trails, ice-cream vans, even a shoe shiner, will all be set to the tunes of the King Street Bandstand.

This festival is about giving you a taste of village life in the heart of the big city. Dates: Sat 2 - Sun 3 June Venue: King Street, Manchester Ages: All Tickets: Free. Information and times at https://www. visitmanchester.com/ideas-andinspiration/king-street-festival
