THOUSANDS of families descended on Arley Hall over the weekend for the Geronimo family festival.

CBeebies stars including Justin Fletcher, Alex Winters and Andy Day have been among the host of acts entertaining kids of all ages across the event, which continues until 6pm today, bank holiday Monday.

It’s the second time Geronimo has been at Arley Hall in Cheshire after it moved from its previous home at Tatton Park.

Hundreds of families have also been camping on the site this year, with campers getting wristbands for unlimited goes on most of the fairground rides.

More than 130 activities have been taking place which are included in the ticket price, including everything from an indoor ‘caving’ experience to the chance to handle reptiles and spiders at one of the many shows and talks.

Some of the activities - such as Monkey Do, where kids get to navigate their way through the trees on giant nets and ropes have limited capacity so slots need booking on the day.

There are two separate circus shows too, with Gandeys and Cirque de Hilarious putting on four performances a day.

And there are new attractions for the 2018 line-up, including Woodland Tribe, where kids get to help build their own adventure playground and the spa zone for adults with crèche facilities on site.

Entertainment is on until 6pm today when the event closes.

Geronimo founder Simon Goldman said: “We had 10,000 people here on Saturday and it’s been amazing.

“We’ve got some amazing new activities this year.

“If you’ve never been to a festival for kids and families then don’t miss out this weekend. We’re only here once a year in the north.

“There’s still lots more to come on bank holiday Monday.”

A special two-for-one ticket offer is running for today, bringing the cost of a single day ticket to £15 and there’s no booking fee.

Under twos go free of charge, as do senior citizens accompanying an adult ticket (maximum two per booking).

Carers also go free - that covers a family member or paid helper that looks after a child in receipt of DLA for a disability or sickness. You can call the specialist sales team to process the free carer ticket on 0161 832 1111.
