Alex goes from child star to a dad at age 16
TEENAGE Coronation Street star Alex Bain is set to become a dad for the first time, aged 16. Alex has been a child actor on Corrie for the past 10 years playing troubled Simon Barlow, the son of alcoholic Peter Barlow. Now 16, Alex is a well known face on the cobbles, and has been involved in a number of huge storylines as Simon.
Alex’s teen girlfriend has reportedly confirmed the pregnancy news on her Facebook page.
Corrie sources have confirmed the news, but declined to comment further.
Alex films Corrie in between his studies at a school in Lancashire, where he is studying for his GCSEs.
The Corrie youngster, originally from Blackburn, won the Best Young Performance award at the 2012 British Soap Awards and also at the 2012 Inside Soap Awards.
He grew up with parents Debra and Paul – who have accompanied Alex to red carpet events and launch nights in Manchester in recent years.
Alex is also a talented dancer and performs with a local dance troupe.
Meanwhile his Corrie character Simon has had a tough start to life, when his mum died from cancer he was left to be raised by his alcoholic dad Peter, played by Chris Gascoyne.
He went on to be adopted by stepmum Leanne Battersby, but became violent towards her in a tough storyline.
His dad Peter recently returned to Weatherfield and is now in a relationship with Leanne’s sister Toyah Battersby. He has since become something of a wild child and has planned to disrupt his dad and Toyah’s relationship.
