THE family of a man who died after a car ploughed into a crowd of people outside a nightclub have paid tribute to a ‘kind, loving and wonderful friend.’

Nathan Marshall’s family spoke of their devastation as police continued to question a 30-year-old man, who was arrested on Monday night on suspicion of murder.

They said Mr Marshall, 30, ‘lit up’ any room he was in and said living without him would be ‘the hardest thing we will do as a family.’

Mr Marshall, from Reddish, Stockport, died in hospital following the collision outside The Salisbury Club on Truro Avenue in Brinnington, Stockport, on Sunday night.

A black Audi A4 struck several people outside the venue at around 10.45pm. Two men, aged 31 and 33, also suffered minor injuries. Paying tribute to Mr Marshall his family said in a statement: “Nathan was our much-loved son. “He was kind and loving and a wonderful friend to the many people who knew and cared about him. “Nathan was our firstborn. He lit up the room when he was alive. “Living without him will be the hardest thing we will do as a family and we are devastated by our loss. “We would like to ask you to respect our family’s privacy at this time.” The Audi was later found dumped in the middle lane of the M60 motorway, close to Stockport town centre and the pyramid. Specially-trained officers continue to support Mr Marshall’s family as the investigation continues, GMP said. As reported in the M.E.N., witnesses described how people tried to help Mr Marshall as he lay injured in the road.

Dozens of floral tributes have now been left at the scene following the tragic incident.

Police have revealed that shortly before 10pm on Monday a 30-yearold man, who hasn’t been named, handed himself in at a police station, where he was subsequently arrested. He remained in custody yesterday. Det Insp Andy Butterworth, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Our investigation does not stop here and we are continuing to question the man in custody.

“We are still gathering information from witnesses and will continue to recover any details which can help explain this man’s last moments and provide his family with the answers they deserve.”
