- By STEVE ROBSON

THE devastated family and boyfriend of a teenager who died after a collision in Trafford Park have paid tribute to their ‘angel.’

Sophie Smith’s relatives said losing the 19-year-old left ‘a big empty space in our souls.’ Her partner Jordan, who was also injured in the incident on Thursday night, added: “You are my world, my love, my princess and always will be.”

Sophie was one of several pedestrians knocked down by a car on Europa Way in Trafford Park shortly before 10pm. The teen was taken to hospital for treatment but died the following day.

In a moving statement released through Greater Manchester Police yesterday, Sophie’s family said: “Sophie was an amazing daughter, sister and girlfriend and our hearts are broken.

“We will always love her and never forget the time we spent together.

“Sophie was our little angel and loved by everyone who knew her.

“A big empty space has been left in our souls and life will never be the same without her.

“We will always be thinking about her and she will be in our hearts forever.”

Jordan added: “To my beautiful girlfriend Sophie. Our time together may have been short but I was the luckiest person in the world to experience the love we shared, the laughs we had and plans for the future that have been lost forever.

“You are my world, my love, my princess and always will be. Sleep tight princess, you’re my angel.”

A spokesman for GMP confirmed: “At 9.50pm on Thursday 31 May, police were called to Europa Way, Trafford Park to reports that a car had collided with a number of pedestrians. “Emergency services attended and seven people injured in the collision were taken to hospital. “A 19-year-old woman, who has since been formally identified as Sophie Smith, died in hospital the following day.” There were about 60 cars at the event on Thursday night. Sophie’s devastated workmates at Costa Coffee, in Bolton, have launched a fundraising page to help her family and support Jordan’s recovery. Pal Chelsea Kirkman wrote on the page: “As her work family, we see her most days out of the week so raising money for her seems like the right thing to do. “The Costa team would like to help with any expenses on giving Sophie the best send off possible. “We are absolutely devastated by this loss and any donation would be an amazing gift.” A shrine has been left at the scene of the incident at Europa Way. Dozens of floral tributes are piled up while the letters SLS - in reference to Sophie’s full name - were spelled out in candles. Friends have also been taking to social media to express shock and sadness at the news. Jennifer May said: “I have no words. She used to do my hair, such a beautiful girl inside & out xxxx” Friend Kelly Hubert wrote: “R.I.P
