Fury sets sights on Wilder and Joshua

I WILL ONLY BE CALLED A LEGEND IF I BEAT BOTH OF THEM SAYS TYSON

-

TYSON Fury says he needs to beat Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder if he is to be considered a legend.

The Manchester fighter returns to the ring for the first time in almost three years on Saturday when he takes on Albania’s Sefer Seferi at the Manchester Arena.

It is the first step on what Fury hopes will be a path back to becoming undisputed world heavyweight champion.

But he knows for that to happen, he will have to beat WBA, IBF and WBO champion Joshua and 32-year-old American Wilder, who holds the WBC crown.

“I have to beat both of them in order for my career to be defined, and to be looked back at as a legendary champion,” Fury said.

“Whatever they bring, I can adapt. I don’t think they’ll land on me.”

Fury, 29, has not fought since claiming the IBF, WBA and WBO titles with a shock points decision victory from Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.

Meanwhile, Martin Murray’s world title clash with Billy Joe Saunders has been postponed again.

The fight had been due to be held at London’s 02 Arena on June 23, but WBO middleweight champion Saunders has pulled out because of a hamstring injury. It is the second time the fight has been postponed this year after Saunders had earlier injured his hand in training. “Due to injury I had to withdraw from the 23rd, you have your ups in boxing but last three months been downs,” Saunders said on his personal Twitter account yesterday. “Sorry to Martin and the fans, be back soon.” The 28-year-old Saunders, who is unbeaten in 26 fights, would have been making the fourth defence of a title he won in December 2015. Saunders’ promoter Frank Warren tweeted: “A full statement on the show will be made tomorrow (Monday). “We apologise for any inconvenience.” Murray posted a video on social media saying that he had been told the fight was off as Saunders had suffered a hamstring injury. “I am obviously gutted, but there’s nothing I can do,” Murray, who was train in Manchester, said. “I just want to apologise to everyone who’s bought tickets, booked hotels and train fares, and just say thank you for your continued support and believing in me. My team is working on an alternative, so hopefully I’ll have a new date in the next couple of weeks.”
