/Love Island gives Majorca a double boost

-

LoVE Island returned to screens last week - and it seems the television phenomenon has had a major influence on Brit’s holiday choices.

online searches for holidays to the spanish island of Majorca, where the show is based, have doubled since the show, which sees a group of young singletons looking for love in the sun, returned to screens.

Holiday comparison website Travelsupermarket say searches for Majorcan holidays rocketed by 94 per cent on Monday night, when this year’s series premiered on ITV2.

More than three million people watched the first episode of the show, which is expected to run for about eight weeks.

Travelsupermarket spokeswoman Emma Grimster said: “Majorca is one of Brit’s most popular destinations for couples, friends, and families too, it has something for everyone.

“Whether you want beaches and nightlife, or culture and good food, the island caters for all tastes and is well set up to deliver relaxation and fun in equal measure.

“The good news is, demand hasn’t impacted too much on prices and availability so far. Deals are available, for departures this month.”
