Cyclist left fighting for his life in hospital after crash
A CYCLIST has been left fighting for his life in hospital after a road accident.
Emergency services were called to the collision, which also involving a blue Nissan Micra, on Lever Park Avenue in Horwich, Bolton, just before 1pm on Sunday.
A 57-year-old man was airlifted to hospital by the air ambulance.
Police said yesterday that he remained in hospital in a critical condition and is suffering from life threatening injuries.
A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
PC Philip Shaw, from Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the man and his family. This is a heartbreaking incident.
“The man was out on his bike, enjoying the great weather.
“What has happened is devastating.
“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have seen the car before it collided with the cyclist.
“We would particularly like to hear from anyone with dash-cam footage.”
