A PAEDOPHILE who tried to prostitute a teenage girl out to other men has been jailed.

Adam Banks, from Wigan, first contacted his underage victim on social media and later convinced her to send ‘sickening’ photos of herself for his ‘disgusting sexual gratification,’ detectives said.

After the messages got more explicit, Banks, 33, then encouraged the girl to sell her sexual services, which he said he could arrange. He constantly contacted the girl, offering her money as an incentive, police said.

When Banks convinced the victim to send him inappropriate images, he texted men offering her to them.

On one occasion, Banks met up with her in his car and told her he arranged for her to see four men later in the week.

Someone close to the victim passed on their suspicions over what was happening to police and officers were able to step in before Banks could move further.

He was arrested in Leeds and his home on Atherton Road, Hindley Green, was raided by police.

Detectives seized his phone, which helped to uncover the true extent of his crimes.

Banks pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to two counts of arranging the sexual exploitation of a child, three counts of distributing indecent images of a child and one count of making (downloading) an indecent image of a child.

He was handed a two-year and eight-month prison sentence by a judge at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.

Banks was also given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

Det Sgt Jennie Morrison, from Bury’s Child Sexual Exploitation Team under Project Phoenix, said: “Banks manipulated this vulnerable girl, preying on her need for money. He sent sickening explicit texts to other men detailing the services she could offer, all the while knowing how young and fragile she was.

“He took pleasure in arranging to sexually exploit this girl and gained disgusting sexual gratification from images he convinced her to send. I want to praise the victim for her strength throughout this investigation and specialist officers have supported her through this ordeal.”
