Cannabis haul worth £72,000 discovered

THIS is the huge stash of cannabis discovered by police in a house in Trafford.
Images from the scene show at least eight large evidence bags stuffed full of plants.
Police were called to the house on Kings Road in Stretford following concerns from neighbours.
They reported a ‘funny smell,’ and said that the blinds were closed and they had not seen the occupant for days.
Officers forced their way into the house and discovered it had been completely converted into a huge cannabis farm – run with electricity diverted from mains on the streets.
More than 120 plants – with an estimated value of £72,000 – were found across two floors, with baby plants also in the attic.
Pc Emlyn Maguire, who works in Stretford, says most of the plants were fully grown.
“They were around 5ft tall,” he said. “They were just about ready for cultivation. There were also some baby plants in the attic.
“It looks like the smaller ones were grown there before being moved downstairs.
“The windows had been blocked out with insulation and the offenders had also abstracted electricity for the farm by digging underground into the street main.”
It’s understood the property is rented, and police are now trying to trace the person who has been renting it. No arrests have yet been made. The cannabis and all of the lighting equipment were seized to be destroyed.
