‘EU is rich man’s club’

-

AFTER reading the tirade of condemnation of Brexit by Rev Fr Patrick Davies, we could believe that Britain is destined for hellfire and damnation.

As a man of the cloth he does religion a disservice by spreading malign twisting of truth, instead of promoting tolerance, understanding and hope. Insulting the British people of increasing xenophobia, bigotry and racism, because of Brexit, ignores that civil strife in the UK since Magna Carta has been less than the rest of Europe altogether, whilst net migration into the UK was still 244,000 in 2017.

Neither did we vote to unravel the UK; although it was Blair’s hidden plan to diminish the nation state and relinquish control of governance.

The Good Friday Agreement was brokered by the UK government, but the Irish people decided to uphold it and all have stated categorically they don’t want and don’t have to have, a hard border; except for EU cynical insistence to weaken UK bargaining position. Also, according to EU diktat, we can’t leave while still in the Single Market and Customs Union!

Accusation of systematic lying is disingenuous considering the Remain campaign and £9.3million the government spent on leaflets warning of dangers to vote leave.

None of which has transpired and UK employment is at an all-time high; unlike widespread unemployment and discontent across Europe.

Since the EU is a rich man’s club that penalises poor third world countries with punitive tariffs, the motives of Rev Davies are confusing! Bill Newham, Worsley
