THESE are some of the world’s quirkiest toilets - and now they are ‘flushed’ with pride after winning international awards.

The International Toilet Tourism Awards searched the globe to find the very best ‘thrones’ and has now crowned the winners.

They include a James Bond themed loo on a mountain top, a toilet that makes users feel like they are in a forest and an airport where guide dogs are allowed into the loos.

The International Toilet Tourism Awards, now in their second year, were created by MyTravelResearch.com, which aims to show the close link between innovative, clean toilets with great design and a successful local tourism economy.

The Best Design award went to the Saskatchewan Science Centre, in Canada, which have floor to ceiling visuals which makes it look like they are in a forest, complete with an audio track of bird song.

The Best Economic Contributor went to the Cummins Mosaic Loo, in Australia.

The local community converted a bland red brick toilet block from the former railway station into a public loo full of statues, mosaics and paintings.

Elsewhere, the Best Location award went to Hotel La Jolla in California, which sits on the 11th floor and offers a breathtaking view of the coastal urban village of La Jolla and the Pacific ocean.

Meanwhile, the Best Accessible Toilet went to Brisbane Airport, which alongside specialist adult changing facilities even has an indoor loo for guide dogs.

The Quirkiest Experience award went to Bowl Plaza in Kansas. The restrooms, which took four years to build, are now a major attraction, famed for their detailed mosaics created by local residents and artists, while the entire building is shaped like a toilet tank.

But the overall winner of the contest were the ‘James Bond Loos’ in Murren, Switzerland, which were inspired by the fact that the town was used as a filming location for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.’

Bond girl Diana Rigg appears in the mirror when men wash their hands. There’s a sign for men in the toilets saying, “Shake, don’t stir” and “Aim like James’, while the ladies’ loo has music and a shot ringing out as an image of James Bond appears in the mirror beside a bullet hole.
