Gift shop targeted by thugs once again
THUGS have smashed in the windows of a gift shop in Stalybridge for the fourth time.
Nicola Buckley, owner of Florence & Amelias, on Corporation Street, is frustrated her business is suffering due to anti-social behaviour in the area.
The yobs used stones to smash the window of the front door to the shop between 1pm on Sunday, June 17, and 8.30am on Monday, June 18.
But it appears they were unable to fully shatter the glass and fled from the scene.
It is believed the offenders were attempting to break into the shop, but luckily nothing was taken.
Nicola said this is the fourth time this has happened in the four years her business has been based in Stalybridge. The shop specialises in vintage furniture, home accessories and personalised gifts. She told the M.E.N: “It looks like they attempted to break in but didn’t manage to get through the shatter glass in the door. They used a cobblestone to smash the glass. “It’s very frustrating for me as a small business owner, this is the fourth time it has happened in four years. “I feel it’s such a shame that a small few let down a lovely town which is trying so very hard to put itself back on the map. “The offenders didn’t take anything, they couldn’t get through the glass or they were disturbed trying.” A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly after 9am on Monday, June Shop owner Nicola Buckley 18, 2018, police were called to reports of a burglary on Corporation Street in Tameside.
“Some unknown offenders had thrown stones through a window, before fleeing.
“Enquiries into the full circumstances around this incident are ongoing.”
