Belle Vue look to sink Pirates in home clash

- SPEEDWAY By HAYLEY BROMLEY @MENSports

PREMIERSHIP action returns to Manchester after a four-week absence tonight and Belle Vue are focused on bolstering their top four position with a big performance against Poole.

Coming off the back of consecutive away wins at both Wolverhampton and Rye House, the Rentruck Aces are filled with confidence ahead of their return to the National Speedway Stadium.

Their triumph against the Rockets helped them to second place in the Premiership table but with as little as seven points separating first at fourth, there’s no room for another blip at home.

Jason Garrity has proved a safe investment for club so far, playing a key role in last week’s victories, and his performance in the British final proved he’s quite capable around the NSS.

The Pirates bring a couple of new faces along for the ride this time, with Nicolai Klindt and Richie Worrall having joined their ranks since the departure of both Peter Kildemand and James Shanes.

Team boss Mark Lemon said: “It’s been too long since we’ve seen the boys in action at home so there is that feel-good factor among the team to be racing in front of their home crowd again.

“I was hugely impressed with the way the guys rode last week, in particular how Damian (Drozdz) approached two tracks he’s never seen before and scored points that proved vital to our wins.

“It’s a very happy camp at the moment and we intend to keep it that way. We’re going to need that solidarity to be especially prevalent at home to ensure there are no more blips going forward.

“Poole have proved themselves to be tough opponents here already this season but they’ve made a couple of changes that could make the difference either way, so we need to be prepared.”

The Rentruck Aces take on the Pirates this evening before heading to Poole’s Wimborne Road home once again on Wednesday, July 4.

Tickets for the home fixture are now available online at bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
