C’MON ENGLAND! MANCS CELEBRATE
IT’S PARTY TIME FOR SUPPORTERS AFTER THREE LIONS SCORE SIX
ENGLAND hit Panama for six in the World Cup – and Manchester celebrated the historic win in party style.
Bars in the Printworks were packed, with some fans even forced to peer in at screens from the street outside the Seven Stars Wetherspoon.
Captain Harry Kane led from the front to secure a hat-trick in the thrilling 6-1 win, a result which secures England’s place in the last-16 knock-out stages of the World Cup with a game to go in the group – against Belgium on Thursday night.
The Three Lions’ sensational performance prompted wild celebrations in Manchester, with frequent chants of ‘football’s coming home!’ and ‘don’t take me home’ breaking out through the match.
At the final whistle, a huge crowd filled the streets outside the Printworks and the singing continued.
England’s City and United heroes were lauded with chants of ‘John Stones on fire’ and ‘Jesse Lingard, he’s one of our own.’
David Mamczymski, 26, from Rochdale, and his mates said they had an ‘absolutely sensational’ afternoon. Asked if England can now win the World Cup he said: “Dare to dream!”
Jayme Green, 27, and Kelly Tang, 27, from Salford, were among those partying in the city centre.
Kelly, originally from Holland, said: “I’m here because of him! It’s nice to have someone to watch [with Holland failing to qualify].”
Jayme added: “Were not going to win it, not a chance – but it would be nice! We’re excited.”
Jane Ellis, 24, lives in Salford but is originally from Belfast.
She said: “I’m not normally an England fan but we didn’t qualify – it’s a bit of fun. I’m out with my friends – it’s a fun day!” Match report and reaction: M.E.N. Sport
