Noel to swoop in for hometown concert

GIG AT O2 RITZ TO BE ONE OF MOST INTIMATE SHOWS OF TOUR

- By SIMON BINNS

NOEL Gallagher is playing an intimate – by his standards – hometown gig at the O2 Ritz in Manchester.

Noel and his High Flying Birds will perform at the 1,500 capacity venue for the first time in his career.

The show, on July 18 with Absolute Radio, will also be one of the smallest and most intimate performances of his world tour.

The gig was announced on Dave Berry’s Breakfast Show this morning, where it was revealed that tickets will be available from noelgallagher.com, as well as up for grabs via competitions on Absolute Radio.

Speaking about the upcoming gig, Dave Berry said: “When Absolute Radio asked Noel to play a gig in Manchester, he jumped at the chance. Not only does he get to play in front of a home crowd, but it means he can also pop in for a tea at his mum’s. It’s a win-win.”

‘Who Built the Moon?,’ the third album from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, was released in November 2017 on Sour Mash Records and debuted at Number 1, achieving gold certification in less than two weeks after its release – making it a hattrick of Number 1 solo records following 2011’s eponymous album and 2015’s ‘Chasing Yesterday.’

This is also a recordbreaking 10th consecutive chart-topping studio album for Noel – no other act has a perfect streak of Number 1 studio albums as long as Noel.
