The 15-year-old victim was walking home from school in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, when she was attacked.

The teenager was wearing her school uniform at the time of the attack, near the library on Wigan Road, and didn’t know the offender.

The attacker was wearing a dark shirt with the cuffs and three buttons undone, and dirty blue jeans.

He is described as a white man with blue, bloodshot eyes and short, blond hair.

Pc Fiona MacKey, of GMP’s Wigan borough, said: “This was obviously a terrifying attack on a young girl in the middle of the afternoon and we are doing all we can to find the man responsible.

“The victim has been incredibly brave and we are continuing to support her and her family through this ordeal.

“I want to assure the community that we have increased patrols in the area, with local area officers and PCSOs conducting high visibility patrols.

“If you recognise the man in the e-fit or have any information that could assist our inquiries then please get in touch as soon as you can.”
