It’s a refreshing alternative to Tour de France

MASSIVE Manchester beer hall Albert’s Schloss is launching its alcoholic alternative to the upcoming Tour de France this weekend.

For the city that has just hailed the creation of the biggest cycling network in the country (and hosted the World Naked Bike Ride), the Tour de Manchester is a chance for cycling fans who love pints as much as they do pedals to get competitive for a radler reward at the end.

In true Mobike spirit, Albert’s Schloss has created their very own cycling club, the Albert’s Radlers –named after the favourite drink of German cyclists – local beer finished off with fruit juice.

The first ride out will take place tomorrow at 9am and tickets are free.

And if you’re still feeling a little worse for wear after today’s football, there’s no need to worry. The route welcomes both cycling fans and families, allowing you to enjoy the summer sun on a leisurely 22km around the outskirts of the city through Rusholme, Fallowfield, Chorlton Park and Gorse Hill. Albert’s Schloss will play host to a cycling hub before the ride out with a free bike servicing popup.

Not to let any rider go without a pre-ride snack, the hall will be serving up sausage sandwiches and coffees, then dishing out radlers upon return (or milkshakes and kronuts for the kids) to compliment their Sunday roasts and entertainment.

The Tour de Manchester will also be followed up by a Q&A with professional cyclists for those looking for predictions of who might take home the yellow jersey.

After the debut event, members of the team who cycle the most amount of miles each week will earn a spot on the leaderboard. The victor will go on to win a free brunch, whilst runners up don’t do so badly either – scoring a free radler themselves.
