Mamma Mia! Stars enjoy Greek night

-

CORONATION Street stars swapped the Weatherfield cobbles for a sun-soaked Greek island paradise as they stepped out to watch Mamma Mia! at the Palace Theatre.

Corrie favourites Brooke Vincent, Ellie Leach, Victoria Ekanoye, Charlie de Melo and newcomer Alexandra Mardell posed for the cameras as they arrived to watch Judy Craymer’s musical – featuring the music of ABBA.

A bronzed-looking Brooke, who plays Sophie Webster, had flashbulbs popping in a blue striped cropped top and trouser combo with pink tassel trim shoes, accessorised with a red bag and matching nail polish and sunglasses perched on top of her brunette tresses.

Her character Sophie is at the centre of the drama on the street as her younger brother Jack faces having a limb amputated after contracting sepsis, but Audenshaw actress Brooke was all smiles as she looked forward to a night at the theatre.

Her cousin Ellie Leach, who plays Faye Windass on the show, also looked summery in wide-legged lemon yellow trousers with an off-the-shoulder black top and white open-toe sandals.

Alexandra, whose sweet-natured character Emma Brooker is staying on the cobbles for another six months with a new contract after winning the hearts of viewers, wowed the crowds in pretty blue floral cropped shirt.

Victoria, who plays Angie Appleton, looked elegant in an eye-catching patterned dress and Charlie, who plays solicitor Imran Habeeb, embraced the hot weather in shorts and lion motif T-shirt.

TV presenter Jenny Powell dazzled in a powder blue evening gown to match the sky blue carpet in theme with the feel-good musical’s summer setting.

She later tweeted: “Smiled all night long thanks to the amazing cast and wow what an energy! Then strolled out into the warm evening air in Manchester. A treat of a school night! Brill.”

Also in attendance were Hits Radio presenter Mike Toolan and his children and CBBC and Radio 1 presenter Katie Thistleton.

The show is at the Palace until July 14. For tickets visit www.atgtickets/ manchester or call 0844 871 3019.
