BOGUS window cleaners have been targeting homes in Salford, police have said.

Officers have issued a warning to residents in Little Hulton following a spate of thefts in recent weeks.

They say two men posing as window cleaners have been targeting properties in the Madams Wood Road and Jonquil Drive area.

After carrying out the work, they knock on doors for payment.

When residents go inside to fetch their purses or wallets, they are followed inside before the men steal money.

Officers manning the GMP Swinton and Little Hulton Facebook page said that in some cases, one of the men stayed at the front of the house while the other went around the back.

The two men have been seen wearing black T-shirts with a white logo on the left hand side.

Police said one of the men is of slim build, with short black hair. The other is of stocky build. Both had local accents. GMP Swinton and Little Hulton urged people to keep safe writing: “Please keep all your doors locked even when you are home, if you ever feel suspicious please ask for ID, this goes for all workers/businesses. “If you know of anyone who doesn’t have access to social media or is vulnerable please pass on this message to them.” Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.

Please keep all your doors locked even when you are at home Online advice from GMP Swinton and Little Hulton
