City keeper set for loan switch to Dutch side NAC Breda
CITY are in talks to send goalkeeper Aro Muric on loan to NAC Breda for the 2018/19 season.
The 19-year-old stopper, who spent last year as the club’s third choice behind Ederson and Claudio Bravo and travelled with the first-team squad for most matchdays, is expected to link up with the Dutch side, who have a partnership with City.
That would give Muric the opportunity to spend a year playing competitive football in the Eredivisie to further his development and increase his chances at the Etihad.
NAC Breda usually take five young Blues each year and already have Paolo Fernandes, Erik Palmer-Brown and Luka Ilic signed up for the upcoming campaign.
Muric could still go on City’s pre-season tour in the last two weeks of July even if the loan deal is agreed before then. However, Daniel Grimshaw will serve as the club’s No.3 for this year after signing a new contract.
Angus Gunn completed a £10m move to Southampton this week to further clarify the goalkeeping department at the Etihad.
A deal for Muric would just leave Joe Hart’s future unresolved with four weeks of the transfer window remaining.
The former City No.1 has not played for Pep Guardiola in almost two years and is not part of the manager’s plans for next season. However, he is back training in Manchester while his representatives look for a new opportunity.
Birmingham City, who have had Hart on loan previously, are the latest to be linked with a move for the 31-year-old.
