Vicious attack by girl gang caught on video

POLICE are investigat­ing distressin­g footage of a girl gang attack on a teenager which has been circulated on social media.

The vicious assault – in which the defenceles­s girl was kicked in the head – happened at a park in Tameside on Friday afternoon.

A 13-year-old girl is currently being treated in hospital for her injuries.

The shocking incident is understood to have taken place close to the boating lake at Stamford Park, in Ashton.

Video footage, which has been widely shared on social media, shows a young girl trying to protect herself as she sits on a grassy patch of the park.

Several other girls can be seen taking it in turns to kick the teenager in the head, shoulder and back.

One of the attackers says: “Just ******* have a fair fight or you’re just gonna get leathered off three of us.”

The victim replies: “Well I know that I’m gonna get leathered anyway.”

At one point the victim is seen being dragged up to a standing position by her hair before being kicked again and then knocked back down to the ground.

Tameside police have issued an appeal for anyone with informatio­n about the incident to get in touch with them.

Chief Inspector Gayle Brister, said: “We are aware of a video circulatin­g on social media that shows a 13-year-old teenager being assaulted.

“An investigat­ion has been launched and we have establishe­d that the assault happened near to the boating lake in Stamford Park on Friday July 13.

“The teenager is having her injuries assessed at hospital today and we are following each line of enquiry that’s available to us.

“We will provide updates as we progress this investigat­ion.” Anyone who witnessed the assault or has any informatio­n that would help police is asked to call 0161 856 9202 quoting reference number 1850 of 14/07/18.
