Moore delighted after Fielding’s Rocky story

- By SHELDAN KEAY

ROCKY Fielding picked up the biggest win of his career after he stopped Tyron Zeuge to win the WBA regular super-middleweight title.

Fielding, who is trained by Salford’s Jamie Moore at his gym in Astley, defeated Zeuge thanks to a fifth round stoppage at the Baden Arena in Offenburg, Germany.

Zeuge was knocked down midway through the fifth round, with his trainer Juergen Braehmer then throwing in the towel.

It sees Fielding clinch world honours and become WBA regular supermiddleweight champion.

“It’s an amazing feeling. The fact I’ve come to the champion’s backyard and stopped him is brilliant. I made my debut in a Salford Sports Centre with no promoter, and now I’ve beat a world champion in Germany,” he said.

“I listened to my trainer Jamie Moore drill things in and everything he said was on point. Jamie said that after the first six rounds we’ll see where he’s at and I managed to stick to the plan and break him down.”

The victory is also one of the biggest that Moore has picked up since becoming a trainer, and he heaped praise on Fielding for his performance.

“You can’t deny that it was the perfect gameplan. We knew we could gradually break him down,” said Moore. “Around 12 months ago he said to me his career was stalling and that he wouldn’t go anywhere, and now the world is his oyster.”
