THE Premiership takes centre stage in Manchester today when Belle Vue meet Wolverhampton at the National Speedway Stadium after a fiercely contested fixture on Monday.

Sparks flew when the two sides met at Monmore Green and the adrenaline is still pumping as the boys head north, where the Parrys International Wolves have yet to make a significant impact.

Their last NSS appearance ended in a heavy 57-33 defeat in favour of the Rentruck Aces, a defeat which cost them a place in the 2018 KOC SemiFinals; in which Belle Vue will face Somerset.

But club stalwart Dan Bewley says there’s an air of caution amongst the team, stating: “There’s no guarantees in any meeting. Wolves are a solid outfit and quite capable of being major spoilers.

“It’s the equivalent of our local derby so it’s that extra bit special for us. We know there’s a lot riding on everything we do at the moment because things are so tight in the Premiership table. Wolverhampton will no doubt have a point to prove after their last meeting here, but we’re not worrying about what they’re thinking. We’re staying completely focused on our own game plan.

“Every point is vital at the moment so losing is not an option.

“But with the way the team has been performing I think we can say, with some confidence, that we can deliver the result we want.”

Bell Vue Speedway celebrates its official 90th birthday on July 28 with their Summer of Speed Saturday spectacular, featuring Round 5 of the British Youth Championship as the main event.

Also featured will be the hugely popular Blast from the Past riders astride their vintage machines, as well as demonstration laps and heartstopping antics from the British Sidecar Speedway boys.

Tickets are £5 and will be available from the stadium only.
