Stars come out for icon Dusty
CORRIE ACTORS PAST AND PRESENT TAKE TO RED CARPET FOR MUSICAL BY FORMER COLLEAGUE
CORONATION Street stars past and present were out in force to support their former colleague Jonathan Harvey as his musical celebrating the life of music icon Dusty Springfield opened at The Lowry theatre in Salford.
Taking the short stroll from Corrie’s Trafford Wharf studios to attend the red carpet premiere were famous faces from the soap including Sally Dynevor, Beverley Callard, Jimmi Harkishin, Sally Ann Matthews, Victoria Ekanoye, Daniel Brocklebank, Dolly Rose Campbell and Matilda Freeman.
The musical tells the story of music icon Dusty, through her highs and lows, suffering crippling anxiety despite her huge worldwide success with hits like The Look of Love, Son of a Preacher Man and I Only Want to Be With You and stars acclaimed actress Katherine Kingsley as the star.
Fresh from leaving Corrie, Catherine Tyldesley headed to catch up with her former co-stars at the show, on a date night with her personal trainer husband Tom Pitfield.
Cath, rocking her new short brunette wavy hairstyle after leaving her role as Eva Price, was looking effortlessly chic in black buttoned trousers and white shirt.
And she gave a massive thumbs up to the show, saying afterwards: “I can’t tell you how phenomenal Dusty the musical is... Beyond proud of my super-talented friend @ Jojeharvey.”
Also returning to cheer on her former colleague was ex-Corrie star Hayley Tamaddon, who is now a musicals star herself after leaving the soap as Andrea Beckett in 2015.
She tweeted her praise for the show saying: “Wow!! Simply wow @ Dustythemusical left me speechless. The sheer brilliance of @KatKingsley blew me away and the writing of my dear friend @Jojeharvey deserves every award there possibly is. He is incredible. So so proud.”
The show is in the last week of its UK tour, after playing to rave reviews across the country, and is at The Lowry Theatre until Saturday.
