FAMILY PAY TRIBUTE TO 53-YEAR-OLD WHO WAS FOUND DEAD IN HIS COLLYHURST FLAT

THE family of a man found dead at his flat in Collyhurst have paid tribute to him.

Officers discovered the body of Frank Lennon, 53, at a property in Vauxhall Court, Hamerton Road, on Sunday.

An investigat­ion was launched, with forensic officers combing the property for evidence.

A post mortem examinatio­n found Mr Lennon suffered unexplaine­d injuries.

Detectives are now treating his death as murder and continue to appeal for anyone with further informatio­n to come forward.

Mr Lennon’s family said they have been left devastated following his death and have released an emotional tribute to him.

A statement said: “Frank was a loving, caring and sensitive man with a heart of gold, who wouldn’t hurt a soul.

“We don’t understand who would want to hurt such a kind and funny man who would do anything for anyone.

“Any informatio­n anyone has, no matter how big or small you think it is, please find it in your hearts to contact police. All of our family are devastated beyond belief.”

Mr Lennon’s body was found in his fifth floor flat.

Forensic investigat­ors were still at the scene on Tuesday.

Residents said detectives have spoken to all residents at Vauxhall Court, which is managed by Northwards Housing, have been spoken to.

One resident said of Mr Lennon: “You could not meet a nicer person. It’s a real close-knit community here and people have been very upset about his death.

“He was a very private person but a lovely bloke.”

There’s 61 flats in the 13-storey tower block .
