‘Stabbing’ man had been SHOT
A MAN is recovering in hospital after being shot.
Paramedics and police initially believed the 48-year-old victim had been stabbed at a property in Brentwood Street, Moss Side.
But when his injuries were assessed in hospital, medics discovered that he had been shot with a firearm.
Police were called to Brentwood Street by the ambulance service at around 10.55pm.
The victim remained in hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. An investigation into the shooting has been launched by Greater Manchester Police.
At this stage the incident is not believed to be connected to any other incidents, a spokesman for the force said.
Police said they could not confirm if it was a targeted attack but said officers were ‘keeping an open mind’.
No arrests have been made and officers have not yet found a weapon.
Det Insp Gary Smith, of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “Despite this investigation being somewhat different to what we had first thought, we are still treating this as an extremely serious incident and need people with information to contact us urgently.
“A man is currently in hospital, unable to go about his day-to-day life as someone has shot him.”
