Fury says clash with Wilder is ‘almost done deal’

- BOXING By SHELDAN KEAY @MENSports

TYSON Fury has claimed that he is in talks to fight WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder later this year.

The Manchester boxer is set to fight Francesco Pianeta at Windsor Park on August 18, and a win there could now potentially set up a world title showdown with Wilder.

Fury claims that the two camps have been talking for a while, and that negotiations are underway for a fight with Wilder in December.

Wilder has been linked to a fight with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua throughout the year, but Fury says he is close to agreeing a deal to fight the American instead.

“I can confirm that me and Deontay Wilder are in negotiations and it’s very close to being done,” said Fury.

“It’s out there now and I can reveal that negotiations are very strong for December and we’re almost done with this deal.

“I won’t be overlooking Francesco Pianeta. He’s going to give me the right fight and the right work to prepare me for Wilder.

“I’m going to flatten him first and then Wilder, let’s dance. You’ve been dealing with Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua but I am a man of my word and if I say I’ll fight you, I’ll fight you. Prepare well, train hard and let’s get the deal done. I will knock Pianeta into next week and then I’ll knock you spark out too.”

Both Fury and Wilder are undefeated in their careers, with Fury having a record of 26-0, while Wilder is 40-0.
