Jose gives no guarantees over Bailly and Herrera

-

JOSE Mourinho could not confirm if Ander Herrera and Eric Bailly would be available for the opening game of the season.

Bailly received treatment on the pitch at the Allianz Arena after going down in the second half of the game against Bayern Munich and had to be replaced by Chris Smalling.

And Herrera looked to tell Mourinho he was not okay to carry on and was replaced in the second half after suffering what appeared to be a possible hamstring complaint.

Mourinho was asked about their availability for Friday’s Premier League opener, but could not confirm if the pair would be able to play a part.

“For our boys, the one that plays lots of minutes, was hard once more,” Mourinho told MUTV.

“Ander, we don’t know but is between him and Eric. Apart from that, the boys resist and tomorrow for them is a day off and in the week we have to organise that they arrive fresh for Friday.

“Friday is with the players we have and is not a time to cry for the players we won’t be.”

Mourinho also confirmed that United’s remaining World Cup players, Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Ashley Young would return back to training from their holidays today.

“They are back tomorrow,” Mourinho said after the Bayern game on Sunday.

“Even though, and I want to say a nice word, we were ‘unlucky’ to get the Friday match as we could get the Sunday [fixture].

“We were unlucky to get the Friday match. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday is not enough, but we will see.”
