A MAN is in an induced coma after a ‘one-punch attack’ in Manchester city centre.

Police, who believe the attack was filmed by passers-by, have issued an urgent appeal for information.

The 24-year-old was in the smoking area at Tiger Tiger in the early hours of Wednesday when he was involved in a dispute with three other men.

The argument continued as the four of them moved along Shudehill, police said.

When they reached a multi-storey car park on High Street, the victim was punched and fell to the ground.

He hit his head on the pavement and lost consciousness.

The man was taken to hospital, where he remains in an induced coma.

Detectives investigating the incident are reviewing footage from CCTV.

Those who filmed the incident - or anyone who knows the three men the victim argued with - are urged to come forward. Detective Inspector Gary Smith, of Greater Manchester Police’s City of Manchester Division, said: “Although this wasn’t a sustained attack, in just a short period of time and just one punch, a man’s life could be changed forever. “Violence is absolutely never the answer, whether it’s part of a dispute or not, and those who think that it is will be pursued and made to face the consequences of their behaviour. “While the man remains in hospital with his family by his bedside, I’d urge anyone who knows who is responsible for this attack or anyone who has footage of it that hasn’t yet been in touch with us, to call us immediately.” Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4409, quoting reference number 184 of August 8. Reports can also be made via Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Det Insp Gary Smith
