Man fighting for life after car hits a tree
A MAN was fighting for his life in hospital after a car crashed into a tree.
He was found with serious injuries by emergency crews on Simonsway in Wythenshawe, at the junction with Haslington Road, in the early hours.
Police were called to the scene, around 150 metres from Peel Hall Metrolink stop, at 5.20am on Wednesday.
The man, in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he remained in a life-threatening condition, officers said yesterday.
It is understood the car, a grey Fiat 500 Sport, was driving towards Styal Road in Heald Green when the crash took place.
The road was closed for three hours following the incident while the man was treated and the car recovered. Detectives are now appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage or further information to come forward.
Sgt Jon McColl, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the man, as he fights for his life, and his family at this awful time. We have launched an investigation and we are hoping that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any dashcam footage will get in touch.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the grey Fiat 500 prior to the collision.
