Gang of men point shotgun at children at home

-

A GANG of men pointed a shotgun at children during a raid on a family home.

The ‘terrifying’ attack happened in the early hours on Valley Road in Heaton Mersey, Stockport.

Three men, armed with a shotgun and a machete, stormed into the property just after 1.10am yesterday and aimed the gun at a woman and her children.

They then turned around and ran away without stealing anything from inside.

By the time armed officers arrived at the scene, the culprits had disappeared.

Detectives are treating the incident as a targeted attack, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said.

Sgt David Chambers, from GMP’s Stockport team, said: “Innocent children last night had a gun pointed in their faces and were left terrified by these three brazen criminals.

“The whole family have been left shaken by this.

“We want to find those responsible as soon as possible.

“Guns and machetes are not welcome on our streets and they are certainly not welcome in homes where children are asleep in their beds.

“We are appealing for anyone who knows who these men are to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9745, or 101, quoting crime reference number 121 of Thursday, August 9.
