City new boy ready for loan move to Scotland

-

CITY have signed Australian wonderkid Daniel Arzani - and are set to loan him straight out to Celtic.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed for the Blues’ sister club Melbourne City.

He finalised terms yesterday, and has been in Scotland talking to Celtic over the loan switch.

City’s Patrick Roberts and Jason Denayer have both had successful loan spells in Glasgow in recent years with Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers’ attacking football philosophy thought to chime well with Blues boss Pep Guardiola’s.

Dubbed ‘one of the most exciting talents to come out of Australian football’ in recent years, Arzani was the youngest player in an Australian World Cup squad when picked for this summer’s tournament in Russia. Although he will be hopeful of eventually breaking into City’s star-studded team, his career path may follow that of Aaron Mooy, who used City as a transit from the A-League to the Premier League when he joined the Blues before signing for Huddersfield in a £10m move, netting City a cool profit. Brian Marwood, now director of global football in the City Football Group, said: “In a short period of time, Daniel has developed into one of Australia’s brightest young stars and has demonstrated the drive and raw talent required for success at the highest level.

“This pathway was first forged by Aaron Mooy just two years ago, and we are all delighted to see another Australiangrown talent make this move.”
