Teenager admits murdering 25-year-old by stabbing him

-

A TEENAGER has pleaded guilty to murder after a man was stabbed to death.

Nathan Bradbury, 19, admitted stabbing 25-year-old Matty Shaw on the Lower Falinge estate in Rochdale on May 9.

Bradbury, of Noble Meadow, Rochdale, appeared via video link at Manchester Crown Court yesterday morning.

He showed no emotion as he pleaded guilty to one count of murder.

Police were called to the Melrose block of flats, off Toad Lane, at around 9.40am following reports of men fighting.

Matty Shaw, a member of the Rochdale-based Team23 rap crew, was discovered near the scene with stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

Members of Team23 paid tribute to their ‘talented’ and ‘outspoken’ friend at the time of his death.

Mitchell Lingard, 23, was with Matty the night he died.

He said: “We met through the group about six months ago. It was quite an intense friendship. He seemed quiet at first but he probably ended up being the most outspoken one in the group.

“He was deep and a little bit dark, but was also a very, very funny person and a creative and talented individual. You definitely couldn’t judge him by his cover.”

Fellow Team23 member Jay Adams recorded a track in memory of his friend, entitled #Team23 (RIP Matty Shaw).

He said: “In Team23 we’ve all been through different paths in our lives, we’ve all had our issues.

“Matty always was the one in the corner of the room and if there was a laugh, he’d be the one providing it. He would do anything for anyone, it’s hurt us so deep, he was such a nice guy.”

The case has been adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be completed.

Bradbury was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on September 13.
