Hill happy, despite Rochdale’s home thumping by Posh

- FOOTBALL ROUND-UP By SHELDAN KEAY

ROCHDALE boss Keith Hill says he was happy with what he saw from his side despite their 4-1 home defeat to Peterborough United.

Dale had taken the lead in the League One clash after an Ian Henderson penalty, but two goals from Mark O’Hara along with strikes from Jason Cummings and Matt Godden earned Peterborough the win at the Crown Oil Arena.

While his team may have suffered a heavy loss, Hill insists there is plenty to be pleased about.

“There’s always disappointment in defeat, but I’m reasonably happy with the performance,” he said.

“It’s a great reminder as I’m stood here, although really disappointed with the result, not too despondent, and more than happy with what we’re trying to achieve.”

OLDHAM boss Frankie Bunn admits he was left disappointed with some aspects of his team’s performance after their 1-1 draw at Forest Green Rovers in League Two.

Rovers led thanks to a first-half goal from Reuben Reid, but Dan Gardner’s penalty 10 minutes from time ensured Latics got a point.

While his side may have avoided defeat at The New Lawn, Bunn still thinks there are plenty of improvements to make.

“We weren’t cohesive and we never really had an effort on goal, so in terms of performance I’m very disappointed with the first half,” he said.

“They’ve made a couple of errors but they kept going and they never gave in, so they showed some spirit.”

BURY lost 1-0 at MK Dons. Last week, the Shakers scored a 90th-minute winner, but this time they conceded in the 90th minute as Ousseynou Cisse scored to condemn Ryan Lowe’s side to defeat.

MACCLESFIELD came up short at home after they were beaten 2-0 by Grimsby Town.

Goals from Jordan Cook and Charles Vernam earned Grimsby the win, despite them also having Mitch Rose sent off.

The game had to be briefly halted after 71 minutes as a Canada Goose entered the field and disrupted play.

In the Championship, WIGAN were denied a point as they conceded a stoppage-time goal and lost 3-2 at Aston Villa.

Goals from Nick Powell and Callum Connolly meant Wigan led 2-1 at one stage, but James Chester and Birkir Bjarnason netted and Chey Dunkley scored an own goal, meaning Wigan lost.

BOLTON squandered a two-goal lead as they drew 2-2 at home to Bristol City.
