Lamps won’t take Latics lightly

-

FRANK Lampard says his Derby players won’t be taking Oldham Athletic lightly in tonight’s Carabao Cup clash at Boundary Park.

The League One Latics are hoping to cause a giant-killing against the Championship Rams, who head into the match following a 4-1 home defeat by Leeds on Friday night.

Lampard wants a reaction to that defeat and wants to ensure his players do not take the Latics lightly.

“Oldham will give everything so we have to be spot on,” Lampard said. “It’s a great competition. As a professional you have to have the right attitude.”

Rochdale boss Keith Hill is also keen his players see the cup as an opportunity for the club rather than a hindrance.

“It is a competition that should be taken seriously,” said Hill, whose side visit Grimsby. “It is a superb tournament to be involved in and I want to win the game and see how far we can go. Cup competitions are very important to the finances of the football club. We are taking it very seriously.”

League One Bury, who are set to welcome back Jay O’Shea into the starting line-up after injury, head to Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Bolton face an all-Championship clash with Leeds at Elland Road.

Wanderers have been something of a surprise package so far this season, winning at West Brom before surging into a two-goal lead at home to Bristol City only to draw 2-2.

Wigan are also on the road as they visit Rotherham.
