‘Won’t score if you don’t shoot’

- LEAGUE/ NON-LEAGUE PREVIEW By sheldan keay

ROCHDALE boss Keith Hill is hoping his side will be more clinical in front of goal during today’s match with Fleetwood Town.

Hill’s men head to Highbury following a 4-1 league defeat to Peterborough United last weekend, but they did bounce back with a 2-0 win over Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

The Rochdale manager wants to build on that victory against Grimsby, and hopes they start taking more chances in front of goal. I want the players to have shots – you won’t score goals unless you take shots. We’ve got to be more clinical and that’s it in a nutshell,” he said.

BURY are at home as they go up against Forest Green Rovers. The Shakers have won one and lost one of their League Two matches so far, and were also cruelly denied a win against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

OLDHAM ATHLETIC manager Frankie Bunn plans on having several key players back from injury for today’s home match against Macclesfield Town.

Latics will be looking for their first win of the League Two season when they welcome the Silkmen to Boundary Park, having picked up one point from their opening two games.

“We’ve now got people fighting for places and the bench will certainly look a lot stronger than in previous weeks,” said Bunn.

MACCLESFIELD head into the match after an impressive win against Bradford City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, and Silkmen boss Mark Yates wants to have plenty of supporters making the trip.

“I’ll be hoping we’ll be travelling in numbers and our fans get behind the boys,” he said.

In the Championship, WIGAN ATHLETIC host Nottingham Forest at the DW Stadium. BOLTON WANDERERS travel to Reading.

SALFORD CITY will try to make it back-to-back wins in the National League when they host Chesterfield at the Peninsula Stadium.

Chesterfield have made a good start to the campaign, but were beaten 3-2 by Barrow in midweek.

In the National League North, STOCKPORT COUNTY head to Bradford Park Avenue. Stockport’s last match saw them draw 1-1 against Guiseley at Edgeley Park on Tuesday.

ALTRINCHAM have a home game today, taking on Brackley Town at Moss Lane, while CURZON ASHTON are on their travels to take on York City.

ASHTON UNITED face Brackley Town and FC UNITED were due to have an away game against Chester, but the match has been postponed due to safety reasons.

After a period of turbulent weather, the Deva Stadium has been deemed unfit to host today’s game.
