Ammies leave it late to claim Chesterfie­ld win

SALFORD CITY scored a late winner as they dramatical­ly won 3-2 at home to Chesterfie­ld in the National League.

Adam Rooney put Salford ahead on 19 minutes, but Zavon Hines equalised just before the break.

Carl Piergianni restored Salford’s lead shortly into the second half, before Marc-Antoine Fortune netted to once again bring the scores level.

It looked like Salford would have to settle for a point, but Danny Whitehead scored in the 89th minute to ensure the Ammies victory.

In the National League North, STOCKPORT COUNTY were denied a win as they conceded late on to draw 1-1 at Bradford Park Avenue.

Matthew Warburton had put Stockport ahead with around 10 minutes to go, but Adam Nowakowski equalised just before the end.

CURZON ASHTON were also held to a draw after their match at York City finished 1-1. Joe Guest put Curzon ahead with around 30 minutes to go, before Jon Parin equalised 15 minutes from time.

ALTRINCHAM suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Boston United, with Nathan Arnold and Adam Marriott scoring.

ASHTON UNITED were heavily beaten 5-1 at home to Brackley Town. Lee Ndlovu scored twice, while James Armson, Adam Walker and Greg Smith also netted for Brackley. Craig Hobson scored a consolatio­n goal for Ashton.

FC UNITED’s match with Chester was postponed.
