/Late summer bargains in Turkey

-

THERE’S been an increase in Brits looking to holiday in Turkey thanks to a plunge in the nation’s currency.

TravelSupermarket, which compares prices for holiday packages, flights, hotels and holiday extras has seen a 19 per cent increase in searches for package deals to the country over the past week.

It comes amid a plunge in the value of the lira.

Travel expert Emma Coulthurst said: “If a budgetfriendly, late summer break is what you’re after, Turkey is just the ticket. Brits get fantastic spending power in the country for eating out, drinks and shopping and there are some excellent package holiday deals to boot.

“Turkish resorts were already some of the cheapest places for families to holiday in Europe this summer based on typical expenses, with a meal out for under £10 per person and a beer for less than £1.50. But with the further plunge in the lira in the last few days, British pounds will go even further.

“Turkey has been such a success this summer as it has a great range of quality hotel product, including at the 5* end and has been seriously undercutting some of its Western Med rivals.
