What are ewe lot doing wandering around here?

-

ROGUE sheep caused a stir when they were spotted roaming the streets.

Baffled residents in Oldham spotted the animals roaming the streets of Uppermill in Saddleworth, nibbling on grass and fouling people’s gardens.

Neighbours said they have no idea which farm the sheep came from, and posted photos of the pack of woolly wanderers in local Facebook groups to try to find the owner.

Lauren Chamberlain spotted the flock on Carr Lane at around noon yesterday.

She said: “It’s not unusual to see animals, wild or farm, in Saddleworth but four sheep roaming on a residential street and popping into people’s gardens is quite unusual and they made me chuckle when I saw them.”

The sheep were also seen having a nosey around Grove Road and Birch Road.

Alison Tootill, who lives on Birch Road, said: “I was making lunch for my children and saw them coming up the road. I saw them chew around someone’s garden, then they walked their way round to another person’s garden and chewed on their petunias. There’s sheep poo at the front of our house.

“It’s not uncommon for animals to come out from the fields round the back. Somebody was driving down the road once when they saw a pony.”

Another resident, who didn’t want to be named, said: “I just looked out of my window and saw four sheep in my neighbour’s garden. They have been pottering around quite a bit and munching on the plants. They looked quite cute. It’s the first time I’ve seen sheep on the street. About a year ago cows came down the road.”
