Dry holiday weekend? I wouldn’t bank on it...
GREATER Manchester is set for a wet and cloudy Bank Holiday.
There are no signs of a heatwave in our region this weekend.
Conditions will be pretty grim up north.
But in the south, forecasters are predicting sunny skies and warm temperatures.
Met Office experts say the north west will be unsettled, with long periods of rain.
There will be the odd sunny spell, but temperatures will be cooler than in the last few weeks.
Those heading to Manchester for Pride are advised to take a raincoat or umbrella.
Forecasters say temperatures will hover around 21C to 24C until tomorrow.
By Thursday, and into Friday, conditions will feel ‘fresher.’ Temperatures are then expected to drop a few degrees, with highs of around 16C to 19C.
Similar conditions are expected over the weekend and into Bank Holiday Monday.
Bonnie Diamond, meteorologist for the Met Office, said: “Today will start cloudy, but it will be brightening up into the afternoon. Temperatures will be up to 24C, so it will be feeling quite warm.
“Tomorrow it should be cloudy with some outbreaks of rain. On Thursday and Friday it will feel fresher, with sunny spells and showers.
“The week is starting warm – by Thursday and Friday it will feel fresher and temperatures will be around 16C to 19C.”
She added: “The weekend is the question mark at the moment.
“It is possible the weather on Thursday and Friday will continue into the weekend, with similar spells of sunshine and the risk of showers. There is a possibility it could be more unsettled with longer periods of cloud and rain.” Bonnie said forecasters have ‘greater confidence’ the sunny spells and patchy rain will continue into the weekend, rather than torrential downpours.
